We continue the festival every year, looking for ways to expand and provide more professional interaction with Northwestern students. 		+	La Ronde is the story of the sexual escapades of ten beautiful people at the turn of the twentieth century. The soldier meets the prostitute and they do it by the bench. Next, the soldier and the chambermaid have at it in the grass. The chambermaid seduces the young gentleman, and on and on until the prostitute finds herself groggy with the distinguished count. The text explores the power dynamics of sex: although the couples profess their love for each other, do they mean it? In most cases, it seems not. Additionally, the politics of the bedroom are unrelated to the politics of the outside, in the city of Vienna. La Ronde asks us to analyze its characters, question their motives, and in turn question our own. If not for simply love or pleasure, why do we do what we do when we get alone with someone sexy? And yet, despite the suspicions it raises, still we end the round dance with glimmer of hope for the power of love.
