The Things They Carried is based on Tim O'Brien's novel which details both the horrors and illuminations of the Vietnam War through the stories of soldiers. In 1968, at the age of 22, O'Brien was drafted into the infantry and sent to Vietnam, and his experiences there make up the fabric and texture of his book. Lovingly adapted by director Jessica McKenna with an uncompromising respect and understanding of the work, The Things They Carried explores the intimacies of the human soul through the magic of storytelling.
